Refrigeration

Always make sure your refrigerator and freezer are full, even if it is bottled water. It takes much more energy to maintain temperatures in an empty refrigerator than a full one.

The temperature should be set for 36 to 38 degrees for the refrigerator and 0 to 5 degrees for the freezer. Keeping temperatures 10 degrees cooler than recommended levels can increase energy use by as much as 25%.
